Amon Carter Museum
Making a World-Class Collection Findable Online
The Amon Carter's organic search performance was limited almost entirely to branded queries — people already looking for the museum by name. Non-branded discovery, the pathway for new audiences who don't yet know the museum exists, was essentially absent. The audit needed to diagnose the structural reasons for that gap: technical issues, content alignment failures, and backlink profile weaknesses all contributing.
Used GA4 behavioral data, SEMrush for keyword and competitive analysis, and Screaming Frog for a full technical crawl. Combined with a manual content audit to build a complete picture of digital performance across technical health, search visibility, and content relevance. Findings were organized into three tiers: quick wins, medium-term structural changes, and long-term content strategy investments — each with estimated impact and implementation complexity scoring.
- Prioritized SEO roadmap with 23 specific recommendations across technical, on-page, and content layers
- Identified 14 high-volume non-branded keyword opportunities with low competition and direct relevance to the collection
- Proposed a KPI framework for ongoing tracking across traffic, engagement, and conversion dimensions
- Delivered recommendations with estimated impact scoring so the team could sequence implementation by return on effort
Institutions with irreplaceable collections should have proportional digital visibility
There's something genuinely frustrating about a museum with world-class American art being effectively invisible in search results. Digital strategy isn't optional for cultural institutions anymore — it's how new audiences discover that these places exist. The collection deserves to be found.
